Keeping Our World Beautiful

Improving the Environment

We're always looking for ways to improve the environment of our village and surroundings.  Amongst these have been participation in Keep Scotland Beautiful activities (always popular), and we have also helped to keep the gorse at bay on the old railway line North of the village, although that has not been necessary in recent years thanks to the bulldozing of this important bird habitat. In 2017 we helped our neighbours in Inverbervie deal with an outbreak of Himalayan Balsam, an invasive non-native species of plant, and we were back this year to help them again:

We've also helped out at St Cyrus Nature Reserve, bracken bashing!

15th April 2012

Some scenes from our clean-up activity on the railway line.  There seemed to be less on some parts of the line than in 2011, so maybe the message is getting through...  Rannoch was bored by it all anyway.

A couple of happy hours picking up a variety of litter on the railway line and in Waird's Park, with a certain amount of standing around in the sunshine at our base at the Community Garden.
